Could Innoson IVM G80 Be A Rebadged Chinese-Made BAIC BJ80 SUV?


We have shown you the side-by-side differences between the iconic vehicle that inspired the Chinese made BAIC BJ80 SUV, i mean the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, and the Innoson IVM G80 luxury SUV.

But the question that reminded unanswered is : Is the Innoson G80 truly a made-in-Nigeria SUV or just Nigerian-assembled version of the Chinese made BAIC BJ80 SUV?

According to the wiki page of BAIC BJ80 SUV, the Innoson G80 is a variant of the mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV that is manufactured by BAIC Motor under Beijing Auto Works (BAW), a subsidiary of Beijing Auto Industry Corporation (BAIC).



Other variants includes the diesel powered BJ80D and the BJ80J military version. It also has a Czech-made version, the SVOS 80, as well as an Armored vehicle version, with steel and kevlar plating.
The BJ80 starts from 288,000 yuan to 298,000 Yuan, which is equivalent to about ₦14,900,000 to ₦15,400,000, excluding cost of shipping and clearing in Nigeria. The Innoson IVM G80 SUV starts at ₦27,825,000.



The similarities between the BAIC BJ80 and the Innoson G80 are not limited to the outside but continues inside with the G80 sporting the same dashboard styling as the Chinese BAIC BJ80 SUV.
According to the INNOSON, 70% of all its car parts are produced in Nigeria, while the rest is sourced from Japan, China, and Germany.
