Uber set to launch helicopter rides in New York city to beat traffic.

Are you rich enough to afford a helicopter ride and you don’t want to be caught in the middle of traffic in NYC? Good news, Uber will be launching its helicopter service starting next month between JFK and lower Manhattan. Users will be able to book the helicopter rides using its main app. New York Times reports that helicopter rides between JFK and lower Manhattan will take only 8 minutes and will cost as much as $200 and $225 per person. Uber will also make it possible for users to book their flights 5 days in advance.

The company estimates that this brand new service will reduce the time it takes to travel from Manhattan to JFK by 30 minutes. This also includes the time it will take to get to a helipad in an Uber car. Normally it takes up to one hour to complete the journey by road and more than two hours during intense traffic.

It also takes more than one hour to make the same journey via railroad locates at Long Island. However, even if you can afford it or you have $225 lying around somewhere. It doesn’t mean you’ll be allowed to order the ride. This is because this service is not going to be open for everyone. It will only be available for Platinum or Diamond Uber Rewards members only.

Each flight will carry up to five passengers and they won’t be allowed to carry heavy bags along with them. They’ll only be allowed to carry bags weighing not more than 40 pounds and also a small personal bag.
